Went to the thing today, and listened to the folks talk. Some had good points, but I think too many times I heard "reason reason reason, jump to conclusion."
The Senior Class President talked about Midgley's impartial behavior towards the students mixed with his friendly facade. Graduate Student Mike talked, as well as the EE head of Ventures and Dr Williams, one of my favorite profs. They all gave their own opinions as well as read letters from people who did not show up due to job security.
Afterwards, audience members asked if Dr. Midgley was going to speak.
The heads, Milks and.. err... what's her name..., attempted to dissuade the audience to want this: "He's been shown to lie in the past, will you believe him now?"
Regardless, the audience wished him to speak. Some folk booed him as he stepped up to the mic.
So, Midgley has pretty hefty meta-cajones to even be at an anti-him rally, but apparenty not big enough.
